How old do you have to be to play softball?
OVP Softball is open to girls ages 5-14 years old. Depending on demand, OVP may also sponsor a 16U team.

My daughter is a beginner. Do you have any beginning level teams?
No, we do not have any "beginning teams." When teams are formed, we incorporate different skill levels together so that all teams are fair and the girls learn from one another.

Do you offer T-Ball?
Yes. Our Mini Division plays T-Ball. Girls ages 5-6 are placed in this fundamental division of play. Girls aged 7 who have no softball experience may also play in this division. Our player agent(s) will determine the best placement for your daughter(s).

Is this slow or fast pitch softball ?
OVP plays fastpitch softball in accordance with ASA Softball rules and regulations. For more information about our program and rules, you can download a copy of
our handbook.

Will my daughter have to "try-out?"
No, but we do ask that all new players to our league
be evaluated. New Players (for Divisions 8, 10, 12, 14) will be evaluated on the same day as our last registration day - which will be a Saturday. Evaluations take place on the fields located in back of the OUSD Offices.
How much does it cost ?
Fees for Spring 2008 will be posted in the first week of October. Items covered by our fees are: Uniforms, insurance, umpire fees, and some equipment (see equipment requirements). All players will receive a participation trophy at the end of the season.

When will I hear from our coach?
Managers usually start calling their new players the week.
prior to the beginning of each season.
What type of equipment do we need
to purchase?
Mini's: Glove and cleats.
Division 8: Glove, cleats, (sliding shorts and sliders are highly recommended). Helmet with cage optional.
Divisions 10, 12, 14: Glove, cleats, helmet with cage, chin strap, sliding shorts and sliders.
With guidance from your coach, players have the option of purchasing additional equipment for their personal use. Please consult with your coach as to the appropriate equipment to purchase for your size and ability.
For more equipment information,
contact Pat Hamrock at: Hamrock5@aol.com

What day of the week will my daughter
have her practice?
That is entirely up to the coach. They will be submitting their requests to the scheduler and the practices will be scheduled according to the requests and field availability.
I would like to help out. How can I help and who do I contact?
There are many different ways you can volunteer! Besides coaching and "team parents," OVP is looking for your help with our fields, snack bar and other necessary jobs to keep our program fun for our families. If you have a "specialty" that you think can help our organization, please let us know.
If you would like to volunteer in any capacity, please visit the Volunteer Area during our registration days or send an email to: ovpweb@yahoo.com
Do you practice during holidays?
Some teams may practice on holidays, but it is not mandatory. OVP will take a break from practice and games during the OUSD Spring Break.

Do I have to pay extra for pictures?
A basic picture package is included in the registration fee. Additional pictures can be purchased on Picture Day.

Do you keep standings?
Standings are kept only in Divisions 10 & 12.
There are no standings kept in Divisions Mini & 8s.
Standings will be updated regularly on the website.
Later in the season there will be a tournament in
Divisions 8, 10, & 12.

What happens if our game is
"rained out?"
A "Rain Out" will be officially declared ONLY by:
1) Notification by your manager/coach.
2) Announcement on our website (Field Conditions).
Do not assume that games are rained out! If you are not notified by your coach and there is no announcement on the website, games are going to be played as scheduled.
If there's a "rain out," rescheduling games depends on how many games are actually cancelled and, if the schedule would allow for make-up games. The league will make every effort to reschedule cancelled games. Sometimes, despite our efforts, Mother Nature and scheduling conflicts may not allow for make-up games.
