This year the member leagues within the Federation elected to change the competitive level of play and Fall Ball will now be referred to as Fall Ball Select.

One rule change that occurred is that Travel Ball players will now be allowed to play on Fall Ball Select teams. What does this mean? Nothing for OVP teams. 
In order to play Fall Ball Select in the Federation, a player must have played their recreation season in the same league that they will play Fall Ball Select.OVP did not have any Travel Ball players who played at OVP during the 2008 recreation season so we will not have any Travel Ball players
on any OVP Fall Ball Select teams.

However, during the Fall Ball Select season OVP will play against other leagues that may have Travel Ball players on their teams.  For Divisions 10 and 12,
there will still be two brackets “A” (mostly All Star players) and “B”
(some All Stars plus recreational players).  The travel ball players will
only be allowed to play in the “A” bracket.

In an effort to ensure that our teams will be able to compete
and have fun at this new level of competition, OVP will make
adjustments to our Fall Ball Select program.

First, OVP will call the Fall Ball program Fall Ball Select. Second, OVP will take additional steps to ensure that proper coaching is in place for our Fall Ball Select teams. This may mean that if we do not have enough qualified Managers and Coaches who volunteer to manage teams we may have to limit the
amount of teams that are formed within an age bracket.

Lastly, each player must participate in a mandatory
evaluation prior to team formations.
This evaluation of our players will take place on July 19, 2008.
